Usage and billing

You pay each month for what you used: storage, requests and data out, at the published prices, after the allowance each month includes.

What is measured

MeterWhat countsUnit
StorageThe average stored over the month, measured to the byte-secondGB-month
Class A requestsWrites and listings: PUT, COPY, POST, LIST, multipart create, part uploads and completionper 1,000
Class B requestsReads: GET, HEADper 1,000
Data outBytes downloadedGB
FreeDELETE, aborting multipart uploads, data sent to SwiftFS

1 GB is 2³⁰ bytes. Storage of 100 GB kept for half of a 30-day month is 50 GB-month. Parts of unfinished multipart uploads count as stored data until they are completed or aborted. Requests are counted for the bucket's owner, including anonymous requests to public buckets.

Watching it

  • Usage in the console: storage, requests and data out for this month, last month or the last 30 days, with daily charts and per-bucket and per-operation breakdowns. Storage figures trail real time by about an hour.
  • Charges this month: the month so far, line by line, at the prices in effect, so the invoice is never a surprise.
  • Settings → Pricing shows the prices your organization pays now and any scheduled change.

Invoices

After a month ends, it is invoiced: one line per meter (and per price, if prices changed mid-month) with its quantity, allowance and rate. Credits are applied, then tax where it applies. Once issued, an invoice never changes; a mistake is corrected by voiding it, or with a credit on the next one. Invoices are emailed to the billing contact and are printable from Billing.

Owners and admins manage billing: the legal name, address, tax ID and billing email printed on future invoices, payment methods, and invoices.

Paying

WayCurrencyHow
CardUSDSave a card under Billing; invoices are charged automatically when issued. A declined card is retried 1, 3 and 7 days later. If your bank asks you to confirm, we email you a link.
Mobile moneyRWFMTN MoMo or Airtel Money: enter your number on the invoice and approve the request on your phone.
TransferanyPay using the instructions on the invoice, quoting its number.

Card details go straight to the card processor (Stripe); SwiftFS never sees or stores them.

Unpaid invoices

An invoice not paid by its due date is marked past due, and the billing contact is reminded. If an invoice stays unpaid long after that, S&S Labs may suspend uploads until it is paid; your data stays readable throughout.
